Debt Collection Specialist

  • The Kohn Law Firm, a downtown Milwaukee law firm concentrating its practice in debt collection and litigation, is interviewing for a Collection Specialist to manage an assigned account portfolio of past due accounts. Ideal candidates will be highly-motivated individuals with a strong work ethic who thrive in a fast-paced, professional environment.

    We are also providing a $1,000 New Hire Bonus for all new full-time employees.

    Duties

    • Investigating consumer assets

    • Conducting telephone negotiations

    • Assisting attorneys with litigating claims

    Skills and Abilities

    • Strong written and verbal communications

    • Sound judgment, decision making and analysis

    • Retaining information and learning new processes

    • Managing multiple projects

    • Negotiating effectively

    Well-qualified candidates include experienced debt collectors or those new to the field, such as recent college graduates, those with a sales background, banking background or customer service experience. We provide detailed training to help talented individuals succeed in a fast paced, competitive environment. This is a good position for someone interested in obtaining experience in a law firm setting prior to attending law school.

    Compensation

    A Collections Specialist earns a base hourly wage, plus commission. The total compensation of our collectors currently ranges from $15.00 per hour to $34.70 per hour. While collectors build their queues, we guarantee a minimum total compensation of $15.00 to $20.00 per hour. However, previous collection or related experience is not required to be a successful, high performing Collection Specialist. Bilingual collectors are also eligible to earn an additional $.50 per hour.
